This week I have been preparing stuff to mount my pictures.
I decided to create hands using plaster paris. Its a very simple thing to do : prepare the plaster paris mixture, the pour it into a kitchen glove and wait 30min. I did that quite easily even though a thumb broke and I had to repair it.
I also bought a frame for my picture. It was a simple black frame which works very well with my black and white pictures. I was a bit worried that the heavy frame would break the fingers on my hand but when I tried, they didn't which is good. Here is the final result:
As you can see, the hands seem to be holding the picture up. This demonstrates very well that the hand is the perfect thing to hold and control objects. I am very happy with the result, it works much better than what I was expecting.

Week 6 -Final Pictures-
Today we had to print the pictures we would mount to create a 3D objects. I decided to only use pictures that were to do with "hand control" because I decide to create a hand made of clay. One of my ideas was that two clay hands would hold a frame which has my pictures. I though that it had to have some contrast so I decided to paint the hands when I will make them and put the pictures in black and white. I edited all the pictures messing about with the Black & White settings to make them look different. I then edited them together in Photoshop to put them on one single A4 page. Here are all of them:
I edited them together and printed them on glossy paper. Im not that happy with the pictures because they are not my best ones but they are the ones which relate the most to "hand control".
Next week I will mount the pictures.

Week 5 -Editing-
I spent most of today editing the pictures I took last week and did folder work. I believed that the most important is to document what I did so I decided to start doing to or three short explanations. Here are some pictures that I edited at home and at school.
I took this picture during the first photo shoot day.
I kept the colour on the skateboard and made the rest in black and white.
This could represent control of body parts.

I used the same concept for this picture, but this time I played with the settings of Black and White. For example I changed the colour blue to white instead of "greyish". This makes the tag look more vigorous and even colourful even though if it is in black and white.
I do not know what this has to do with control.

This is an example of what most of my pictures are. General control of objects around you.

Week 4 -First Photoshoot-
This week, we had to take pictures of the three main ideas that we brainstormed last week. Mine were:
- Control of your body (dance...)
- Control of objects around you (driving a car...)
- Control affected by body parts (hand affect controller...)
This time I didn't take to many pictures even though I found some inspiration. I went to the skate park for pictures of objects around you and control affect by body parts. Then we quickly went into town. Finally we went to my house were I took more pictures for control. Here are some examples:
I only got two tries on this picture, but I think I can still use it.
I tried to create a sense of leading lines.
I you follow the strings and then th lead, you arrive to the amp.
When I got back, I went through every picture to see which ones I could use. I then started editing. I managed to create a simple edit out of the two pictures above.
But still after taking all the pictures, I realised that some of them had problem. Some of them were very pixelated because of the lack of light. I should of lowered the shutter speed or turned the flash on. So I decided to go back out during my own time with a signed out camera to take pictures. Next lesson I will edit some which are interesting and will chose one idea

Week 3 -Secondary Pictures-
At the start of the lesson, I edited the secondary pictures I took last week. This time I decided to experiment a bit more with the editing tools. Of course, I stuck to the two main changes, cropping and reshaping the curves. This was a very good experience because I was able to see what tools could be fun and interesting to use. For example, I used the Hue/Saturation tool. This was very fun because it changed the colors, I was able to mess about and get an interesting effect. Here are some examples of some edited images:
As you can see the result is quite fun and interesting.
I also decreased the brightness.
I then did some book work. This is very important if I want to keep a decent amount of work. In the afternoon, I wasn't able to attend the practical ( people went out to take pictures ) so I didn't get much to work on. Next lesson, I'll try to take some quick pictures to replace what people did.

Week 2 -Control-
At the start of today's lesson I edited the pictures I had taken in the previous lesson. The first step was cropping. This is important to get rid of any unwanted elements, or to make the elements be on the lines of thirds. But for one of the images I didn't crop because I didn't think it was necessary. The second step was to change the curves. We were told that making an S with them would make them look nicer. I think this augments the tone and the contrast. These were the two main steps, even though I sometimes did some other changes. Here is an example:
I then went to take pictures after doing the research. I stuck with the same ideas. We went around the school and took some pictures. It seems like inspiration didn't come because I didn't take many good pictures. For me, only 3 pictures were worth editing. Heres one of them:
Next week I will edit them and try to experiment a bit.
I took a very focused picture of a fence. I think this looks nice because
of the spider web, it sort of creates an other sense of control.
This is after the edit. As you can see its in black and white. I also
augmented the brightness and the contrast(this brings out the spiderweb).
I also changed the curves. This gives more heat to the image.
After editing, I did some research on images illustrating control. It was very hard because "control" is a very vague word. Its very hard to actually define control, but I stuck with the control of yourself and objects around you, escaping the control...:
In my view, these are two examples of control of objects around
you. In the first case, he is controlling his skateboard and in the
second case the man is controlling machinery.

Week 1 -Fine Art-
This weeks session was an introduction to Fine Art photography. The first thing we did was researching the meaning of it. It was quite hard to understand because art cannot be described. But the general meaning was that it was a picture made just for art, and not for advertising or making a point. I wrote everything else down in my sketchbook and illustrated it with some images. After that we researched some special artists like Rankin and Louise Bourgious. It was interesting knowing what Fine Art was actually like and how artist interpretated it. After that we actually got our brief: it was called Control. Event if that seemed a bit strange, I managed to get ideas. Even if I had ideas like the control of adults over kids, or the control of governments, I was thinking more about the control of your body and the things around you ( for example dance in the first case and juggling in the second ). I think these ideas are quite original. I even though of "escaping" the control, like climbing over a fence or something like that.
When the brief was finished, we were able to go out and take some pictures, to do with control. I believe I took more than a hundred pictures ( the cameras were of a very good quality and easy to use) and only kept six. Here's one of them :
I didn't have time to edit because I had some problems but thats what I will do next lesson.
